Vitamin B1 (Thiamin, Benfotiamine)
Vitamin B1, also known as Thiamin and Benfotiamine is needed to convert food (carbohydrates) into energy.
It is quite rare to have a vitamin B1 deficiency as it is available through a balanced and varied diet. Most people obtain enough B1 through their diet of fortified cereals and whole grains.
People who seem to suffer from a B1 deficiency are those who suffer from Chron's disease, Anorexia, and Alcoholism. Anyone who is pregnant could be Vitamin B1 (Thiamin, Benfotiamine) deficient and could benefit from taking a supplement.
Benfotiamine is a synthetic form of Vitamin B1 and is thought to support people with conditions such as diabetes-related nerve damage, Alzheimer's disease, and alcohol dependence.
Benfotiamine is easier for the body to absorb than Thiamin and therefore can build up levels of Vitamin B1 easily.
