Beta Glucans
Beta glucans are a form of soluble dietary fibre strongly linked to improving cholesterol levels and boosting heart health.
They are sugars that are found in the cell walls of bacteria, fungi, yeasts, algae, lichens, and plants, such as oats and barley. In supplement form, they are most commonly derived from naturally occurring polysaccharides from the cell wall of Saccharomyces Cerevisiae.
Not particularly well known, beta glucan have also been shown to be extremely powerful in helping to maintain the strength of the immune system, with particularly beneficial effects in respect to the respiratory system. Helping to build protective barriers, beta glucans may stimulate the immune system by increasing chemicals which prevent infections.
